Elizabeth Breaden
Vice President, Portfolio Manager
Liz Breaden is Vice President of Investments for Covenant Trust Company, leading investment strategy, manager selection and portfolio implementation, and engaging with institutional clients and families invested via Covenant Trust’s multi-asset platform.
Liz began her investment career in Chicago with Brinson Partners/UBS Asset Management where she worked as a short duration fixed income portfolio manager. Building on this foundation, she held investment roles as a client portfolio manager in US value and systematic equities, traditional and absolute return fixed income, liquid alternatives, and private assets. While based in Europe for 14 years, she built Natixis Asset Management’s client portfolio management platform, led New York Life Investments’ EMEA development of its US-managed “boutique” strategies, and created a thought leadership and client service framework for TOBAM’s Smart Beta strategies.
Prior to joining Covenant Trust, Liz worked as an Outsourced Chief Investment Officer for SEI Investments in Chicago, guiding asset allocation, portfolio strategy, and investment policy for US-based nonprofit institutions. She has been successful in designing processes to support portfolio analysis, manager due diligence and explaining investment performance. Thanks to working across investment styles and philosophies, teams, cultures, languages and regulatory environments, she possesses a comprehensive perspective on the global investment landscape.
Liz holds a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA in Finance from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. She is fluent in French, and passionate about the importance of bilingual education in building tomorrow’s global citizens, including her own three children. She currently resides in Chicago.
